What is VITA?
To get help with tax credits or other tax questions, you can contact the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, or VITA, program. VITA offers free tax help to people who cannot afford paid professional help.

How do I contact VITA?
To find the location of the VITA site in your area, call your local IRS office and ask to speak to the Taxpayer Education Coordinator, or call IRS assistance at: 1-800-829-1040. When talking with someone from a government agency, remember to write down their name or identification number.
